The Table is staffed entirely with volunteers and volunteers are our biggest need. We have opportunities for volunteers to serve both in-person and from their own space.
We ask that all volunteers for our in-person ministries begin by participating in at least two Wednesday or Saturday Outreach days. In addition to meeting some of our guests and getting a feel for the ministry, these are the two days we provide training for our in-person volunteers.
For those who are either not able or not quite ready to serve our guests in person, we have lots of other ways to get involved. We are all about food here at The Table and every activity involves a meal. We have “food friends” who provide homemade meals or sweet treats for our guests who rarely get a home cooked meal.
We also need volunteers to decorate paper placemats, decorate sack lunch bags, clean our space, and, on occasion, provide handy man services or clean and spruce up our outside areas.
Please take a few minutes to review the various opportunities to serve below. The absolute best way to learn about the ministry is to come on a Wednesday or Saturday.

How has the Lord grown you in your faith since serving here?
“I feel like I have grown in my faith in a lot of ways. I am in recovery as well (7 years) and I think it has really opened my eyes to the ways in which I hope God can use my past to glorify Him. Also, it reminds me just how much I need God and His Holy Spirit at all times. I feel so ill-equipped to really make a difference, so I have had to remember that God does not call me to do something without equipping me.”
“Seeing that there are so many people who are simply in need of a smile, a conversation, a meal, a sense of belonging…so my eyes and my heart have been enlarged to see beautiful people that I may have overlooked before.”
“I am a changed person. I have grown in my faith to a new and wonderful level. Through conversations with guests and volunteers, I have learned more about God and His love, and my desire to learn more has led me to increase my time in worship, Bible studies, and daily quiet time.”
What keeps you coming back to serve at The Table?
“God has shown me that this is one of the ways He has for me to serve Him. He has given me His love and forgiveness and now He wants me to tell others about it.”
“I used to come back to The Table because I felt like I “should be” serving somewhere, but after serving at The Table many months, I can honestly say that I come back because I can’t wait to give and receive hugs from my friends who stop by. I look forward to hearing about each of my friends’ weeks and knowing how I can pray for them. In addition, I appreciate the perspective that spending time with those who are in need gives me – I read something once that said – if you want to be close to God, stay close to those in need. Spending time at The Table has grown my love for and trust in Jesus.”
“God’s love! I see and experience it more clearly at The Table than I do anywhere else. I receive so much more than I give, and I love the time I get to spend here. Plus, I love the women and the relationships that I am forming with them. I learn so much from them!”
